Australia: Those devastating Queensland Election Results: Voters hate lies and the Carbon Tax

Those devastating Queensland Election Results: Voters hate lies and the Carbon Tax Thanks to Truthseeker & Anthony Watts ...UPDATE: Is this a record? Has there ever been a loss this bad in Australian history? Conservatives likely to win 74 seats of an 89 seat parliament. Labor was reduced to only 11 seats in 1974, and on latest counting tonight appeared set to retain only nine seats. Some analysts put the figure even lower, at seven. This would mean Labor falling short of official party status and relying on the incoming LNP government to grant it party offices, staff and resources....

A monster Cyclone (named Cyclone Yasi) is currently heading towards the State of Queensland in Australia. Queensland is only just recovering from recent flooding across most of this huge State. This monster cyclone is similar in size and scope to Hurricane Katrina, and there are very grave fears for what might may happen when this huge System makes landfall, on early Thursday morning, in an area south of Cairns. Some areas are expecting huge sea surges, and there will be rainfall associated with the Cyclone in the vicinity of 40 inches, which will cause major flooding. Some of the imagery...

What was the role of warmists in the Queensland flood disaster? (told folks to prepare for droughts)

What was the role of warmists in the Queensland flood disaster?Australia was told to prepare for droughts as a result of climate change, and let down its guard against flooding, writes Christopher Booker By Christopher Booker 7:29PM GMT 15 Jan 2011 Ever more alarming facts are emerging to show how Brisbane’s floods were made infinitely worse by cockeyed decisions inspired by the obsession of the Australian authorities with global warming. Inevitably, the country’s warmist lobby has been voluble in claiming that such a “freak weather event” (as the BBC called it) is a consequence of man-made climate change. But far...

Did Australia's obsession with global warming contribute to the Brisbane floods?

Saturday 19th of May 2012 04:56:29 AM
Posted by admin / Under Queensland 500

Who, if anyone, is to blame for the terrible flooding in Brisbane? Commentators are pointing their collective finger at the usual suspects. For the extreme green magazine Grist, the floods expose mankind’s arrogance in believing that he can build settlements anywhere he likes, even on floodplains... But might there be another, so far overlooked, contributing factor to the floods? Might the politics of environmentalism itself – the contemporary obsession with global warming as the greatest threat to mankind – have exacerbated the impact of the flooding in Brisbane? ... It is worth looking at a document called ClimateSmart 2050, which...

‘Green’ Fail in the Outback: Police Can’t Fit Gear in Hybrids They’re Required to Drive

Saturday 19th of May 2012 04:56:29 AM

There’s a chance, albeit slight, that the environmentally-conscious celebrities who push these “green” vehicles will loan the Queensland police some of their SUVs, Hummers and limousines so they can have enough room for their equipment, but I’m not counting on it: Queensland Police have been left red-faced over its choice of new “green” patrol cars. The service boasts it is going green, taking delivery of 100 hybrid Toyota Camrys. Shame no one checked the boot size. Frontline officers say the boots of the new patrol cars are too small to carry all their essential equipment, including flak jackets and emergency...

Ship leaking oil 'way off course'

Saturday 19th of May 2012 04:56:29 AM
Posted by admin / Under Queensland 500

Authorities say a ship leaking oil that ran aground off central Queensland near the Great Barrier Reef should not have been in the area. The Chinese coal carrier Shen Neng One ran aground on Douglas Shoal about 120 kilometres east of Rockhampton late yesterday. The ship had departed from the Port of Gladstone and was bound for China. Early this morning authorities found the hull had been breached and an attempt to refloat the ship was abandoned. At first light planes flew over the area to assess the extent of the slick and found the oil as far as two...

"We've been flying them for over...

Queensland Considering Lowering Drink-Driving Limit To .02

Saturday 19th of May 2012 04:56:29 AM
Posted by admin / Under Queensland 500

THE QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT is considering lowering the state's legal blood alcohol limit for motorists to .02, according to a discussion paper released on the weekend, titled Drink Driving in Queensland. Premier Anna Bligh said that the law would have a stronger effect if it was introduced at a national level. "The paper canvasses dropping the blood alcohol limit lower than .05," Ms Bligh said. "I believe this is something that would need to be done nationally." Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has offered some support for the move, but said that it is an issue which should be discussed by the...

A Queensland woman claims a 5m-long amethyst python has devoured her pet goat. Monica Spah, of Kuranda in the state's northeast, noticed her 35kg goat missing three weeks ago. PHOTOS: Snake 'eats goat'She then came across the snake, which had a giant lump in its back, in her backyard. The snake disappeared after three days into neighbouring rainforest.
